St. Elizabeth Ann Seton: Patroness of Teachers

Today is the feast of the first American born saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton. A loving mother and wife, as well as teacher, and foundress of a religious order, the convert Elizabeth Ann Seton was a remarkable woman, dedicated to serving Christ and his Church, no matter what adversity hit her. She is patroness of the Navy (two of her sons were Naval officers), and of teachers. Since I am the only non-teaching Magdalene Sister, I offer up this prayer for Julian and Edith as they prepare to go back to school for a new semester:

Lord God, you blessed Elizabeth Ann Seton with gifts of grace as wife and mother, educator and foundress, so that she might spend her life in service to your people.

Through her example and prayers, may we, learn to express our love for you in our love for all your children.

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.

(If you are ever within a stones throw of Emmitsburg MD, I highly recommend visiting her shrine. It is lovely, and fascinating.)

Thank you, Agatha! It was a fruitful day, no doubt to your prayers and our patroness. I am hoping to go to the shrine when the weather turns warmer!
